In Australia, Damon and Vikander will walk the red carpet at the film’s Australian Premiere on Sunday July 3rd at Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Sydney.

WWD – While others jetted out of Rio de Janeiro after Louis Vuitton’s cruise show, Alicia Vikander stuck around — and for work, not pleasure.

The actress will be featured in Vuitton’s end-of-the-year “travel” campaign and stayed in Rio for the shoot on Monday. Patrick Demarchelier shot the ads.

Nicolas Ghesquière, Vuitton’s artistic director of women’s collections, staged the brand’s cruise show on Saturday at the Oscar Niemeyer-designed Contemporary Art Museum (MAC), a white modernist structure that looks like a flying saucer. In addition to Vikander, the show drew celebrities Jaden Smith, Zendaya and Catherine Deneuve, as well as Brazilian models Alessandra Ambrosio and Isabeli Fontana.

Movies, Submergence  •  By  •  0 Comments

SCREEN DAILY – A first glimpse at romantic thriller Submergence shows X-Men star James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander, in her first role after winning the Oscar, in an intense embrace.

Embankment is selling the Wim Wenders-directed feature at Cannes this week, having already secured deals in more than 30 territories since Berlin’s European Film Market in February, including the UK (Lionsgate); France (Mars/Selective); Germany (NFP/Warners); Spain (Antenna 3); Canada (Elevation); and Latin America (California). Further deals are pending.

Adapted by Erin Dignam from the novel by JM Ledgard, Submergence is the story of James More (McAvoy), a water engineer who is taken hostage in Somalia by Jihadist fighters who suspect that he is a British spy. Danielle ‘Danny’ Flinders (Vikander) is a bio-mathematician working on a deep sea diving project to support her theory of the origin of life on the planet.

The two had met just a few weeks earlier, in an isolated hotel on the Atlantic coast, where they were both preparing for their dangerous missions. Now worlds apart, unable to reach each other, the film follows Danny as she descends in a submersible to the ocean floor, without even knowing if James is still alive.

Cameron Lamb is producing through Lila 9th Productions with Neue Road Movie Dritte Produktionen and Backup Media, who are also financing. Co-producers are Morena Films and Umedia.

Filming is underway in France before moving to Germany, Spain and Africa.

UTA Independent Film Group packaged the project and is handling the US sale.

Light Between Oceans, Movies, Videos  •  By  •  0 Comments

DreamWorks Pictures’ “The Light Between Oceans” is a heart-breaking drama about fate, love, moral dilemmas and the lengths to which one couple will go to see their dreams realized. Starring Academy Award® nominee Michael Fassbender, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Rachel Weisz, Bryan Brown and Jack Thompson, the film is written for the screen and directed by Derek Cianfrance based on the acclaimed novel by M.L. Stedman. The producers are Academy Award nominee David Heyman, p.g.a., and Jeffrey Clifford, p.g.a., with Tom Karnowski, Rosie Alison, Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King serving as executive producers.

In the years following World War I, Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender), a young veteran still numb from his years in combat, takes a job as lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, a remote island off the coast of Western Australia. As the island’s sole inhabitant, he finds comfort in the monotony of the chores and the solitude of his surroundings. When he meets the daughter of the school’s headmaster, Isabel Graysmark (Alicia Vikander), in the local town of Partageuse on the mainland, Tom is immediately captivated by her beauty, wit and passion, and they are soon married and living on the island. As their love flourishes, he begins to feel again, their happiness marred only by their inability to start a family, so when a rowboat with a dead man and infant girl mysteriously washes ashore, Isabel believes their prayers may have finally been answered. As a man of principle, Tom is torn between reporting the lost child and pleasing the woman he loves, and against his better judgment he agrees to let Isabel raise the child as their own, making a choice with devastating consequences.

Euphoria, Movies  •  By  •  0 Comments

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and her London-based agent Charles Collier of Tavistock Wood have launched production firm Vikarious Productions.

The company’s first film is Euphoria, a production with Sweden’s B-Reel Films, that will start shooting in the German Alps in early August. It is the English-language directorial debut of award-winning Swedish writer/director Lisa Langseth, who previously collaborated with Vikander on two Swedish-language titles, Pure and Hotell.

Vikander, who won this year’s best supporting actress Oscar for The Danish Girl, will star in it with Eva Green (Casino Royale) as sisters in conflict traveling through Europe towards a mystery destination.

Said Vikander: “Euphoria is Lisa’s third film as writer and director. I have worked with her on each of them, and I jumped at the chance to do so again.”

She added: It’s a uniquely European approach, enabling me to work with a great Swedish team alongside my colleagues in London. It is a profound story about the journey of two estranged sisters, full of suffering but also full of joy, and squaring up to very important subject matter. It also has compelling female voices and is packed to the rafters with female talent both sides of the camera.”

She said Vikarious plans to produce two further titles at a similar budget within the next two years.
